In a story Friday about a U.S. serviceman who was due to answer charges of failing to investigate the killings of 24 Iraqis, The Associated Press reported erroneously that Army Lt. Col. Steven L. Jordan of Fredericksburg, Va., was convicted of abusing detainees at Abu Ghraib prison. He was not. Link

In stories Nov. 16, Oct. 19 and Oct. 20 about Marine Lt. Col. Jeffrey R. Chessani being charged with failing to investigate the killings of 24 Iraqis, The Associated Press reported erroneously the outcome of an unrelated case against an Army officer. Army Lt. Col. Steven L. Jordan of Fredericksburg, Va., was cleared of abusing detainees at Abu Ghraib prison, but was convicted at his court-martial on a lesser charge of disobeying a general’s order not to discuss the abuse investigation.
