We Crunked: Regret corrections

Just one Crunk to report this week, and it is related to the NBC News Iraqi judge story. You can read about it here, as well as here and here. This is a reprint of a correction that we ran earlier in the week in the first link of the previous sentence. We recommend you read that post to get the full context.

The Crunk

  • There were errors in our March 4 post, "NBC names wrong Iraqi judge," and March 9 post, "NBC’s Brian Williams strikes back." Regret the Error did make an error in saying that NBC was the first
outlet to broadcast the face of the judge in question, and to suggest
that he lost a certain amount of anonymity in their doing do. We want
to make it clear that we stated this largely because Mr. Williams began
his broadcast of the story by saying, "…American television viewers
at the time remember him as the brave man on the bench but at the time
only the back of his head was visible on television because the risk to
his life was that obvious." We regret not checking further to see if
his face had been revealed in previous broadcasts by NBC News or other
outlets, and we regret any suggestion that NBC News breached any kind
of official security protocol. Both posts have been corrected.
