Friday is fess up day at Regret. With thanks to Katie, James, Michelle and Bob, we present The Crunks.
The Crunks:
- Our February 2 post, "Ode to The Guardian’s Corrections," omitted the period between these two sentences: One important takeaway from this piece is that a media outlet can actually engender reader trust and loyalty by making an effort to present corrections in a professional and interesting way. Hiding them, or not making the commitment to present them in a clear and timely manner, does the opposite." It has been corrected. We regret the error.
- Our February 3 post, "Plagiarism at the Super Bowl," used "girl’s" rather than "girls’" in this sentence: ""Are we the only ones who think that sentence makes it sound like he got kicked out of summer camp for getting caught in the girls’ cabin after curfew?" It has been corrected. We regret the error. The same post printed this sentence from the Associated Press: "The
Telegram & Gazette of Worcester, the third-largest daily paper in
New England, published a correction Wednesday about the column written
by Ken Powers." Bob, an attentive reader, pointed out that the publication is apparently not the third largest in New England. Here’s a link to circulation figures, which show it is in fact the fifth largest paper in New England. The AP has been notified and a note has been inserted into our post. We hope they regret the error. - Our site description previously read: "Regret The Error reports on corrections, retractions, clarifications, and trends regarding accuracy and honesty in North American media." James, a reader in the UK, wrote in to bust us for regularly including corrections and other content from media outside of North America. He’s correct — we do pay attention to media outside NA. The site description has now been changed to read: Regret The Error reports on corrections, retractions, clarifications, and trends regarding accuracy and honesty in the media." That’s right — we’ve gone global. Let The Crunks fall where they may.
