Mix and match the candidates

advocatelouisiannaA graphic in the Feb. 26 editions of The Advocate contained errors about two of the three finalists for school superintendent in East Baton Rouge Parish.
Bonita Coleman-Potter, of Jackson, Miss., did not work as a correctional officer in Elmore, Ala. Potter leads a Boy Scout troop for a Baptist church in Jackson, Miss.
John Covington, of Pueblo, Colo., worked as a correctional officer in Elmore, Ala.
He does not lead a Boy Scout troop for a Baptist church in Jackson, Miss.
Covington also spent six years – not eight years as stated in the graphic – as an educator in Montgomery County, Ala. – not in Montgomery County, Colo., as the graphic implied.
Coleman-Potter and Covington are vying for the Baton Rouge job as is John Dilworth, of Montgomery, Ala.
Three days of interviews are scheduled to begin today.
The Advocate regrets the errors.

Recipe for disaster

Food Editor Tommy Simmons says she misunderstood her friend Sara Lemon’s instructions on how to make a banana microwave snack. Simmons mistakenly reported in her Table Talk column in Food, Jan. 24, that Lemon cooked the whole banana in its skin in the microwave for 2 ½ minutes on full power. Lemon said she peels the banana, removing the skin, before cooking it in the microwave for 2 ½ minutes on full power. The Advocate regrets the error.
