In Monday’s round-up of birthdays we mistakenly said Robert Kerr, head teacher of Peebles High School, was 63. He in fact died in December 2003. We apologise unreservedly for the error.

A front-page story Tuesday about a vote on alcohol rules in Mountain Village incorrectly said Mary “Selma” Queenie’s husband would likely vote in the election. Queenie’s husband is dead and she was talking about how he might have voted on the issue. Link

The wrestler Andre “the giant” Roussimoff has not retired from films, as we said. He died in 1993 (Ah, Mr Valuev, we’ve been expecting you. . ., 10 November, page 11, G2). Link

Paper brings Django Reinhardt back from the dead

McClatchy Watch spotted a rather remarkable concert recommendation in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

"Have you heard of Django Reinhardt?" it asks. Then it reports that "he returns to Mount Crested Butte again Labor Day weekend (Sept. 5-6) for DjangoFest Colorado." Well, that would definitely be worth seeing.

Alas, Reinhardt is not coming back from the dead to perform in Colorado.

The July 7 article "GOP Has Big Manua to Climb in Hawaii" mentioned Honolulu City Councilman Duke Bainum as a possible Democratic candidate for Hawaii’s 1st district seat. Bainum died in June.

An obituary on Thursday about Thomas Berry, a Roman Catholic priest and influential environmental theologian, referred incorrectly to one of his brothers. His brother Francis died before him; he is not a survivor. Link

A story in yesterdayâ€™s Telegram & Gazette incorrectly reported the parents of Jeffrey B. Mullan, who was named acting executive director of the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority, still lived in Worcester. Both parents are deceased. Link

Frankie Vaughan was not celebrating his 81st birthday yesterday. The singing legend died in September 1999 (Page 37, February 3).

The “happy birthday!” feature on Page E2 of Tuesday’s Good Living: Health & Fitness section mistakenly included rocker Ronnie Van Zant of Lynyrd Skynyrd fame. Van Zant died in an airplane crash in 1977. Link
