An article (”IVF doctor cleared of inflating birth rates”, 10 Nov) contained several errors: the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority did not retract anything its representative, Ms Angela McNab, had said on the BBC programme about IVF doctor Mr Mohamed Taranissi when it settled his complaint (not legal proceedings as was said), but it did clarify some statements she had made. In addition, Ms McNab had not accused Mr Taranissi of “massaging birth rates”. Link

A theater column on Nov. 13 suggesting that the striking movie and television writers turn their attention to the theater referred imprecisely to the time Tennessee Williams spent in Hollywood, in citing examples of playwrights who wrote for movies. He spent six months there in 1943 working on projects, including a Lana Turner film, but he was not “cranking out screenplays.” Link

In ‘Turncoat Terry’ (Sport, 23 Sept), we did not intend to adopt any allegation that John Terry was a ‘turncoat’ or ‘disloyal’ or that he had played any intentional part in the departure of Jose Mourinho from Chelsea Football Club. We accept his assurance that he did not. We also accept that our headline might have caused confusion and apologise if any contrary impression was given. Link

A headline on Page One on Saturday should have made clear that Oregon Health & Science University will be studying the effects of meth, not cooking it.

A film review on Wednesday about “Little Miss Sunshine” referred incorrectly to contestants in the fictional children’s beauty pageant of the title. The critic intended to compare the contestants to underage prostitutes, not to “underage fleshpots.” Link

An editorial in Friday’s paper incorrectly stated that Florida Cresswell, a candidate for state representative in the 28th District, was convicted in 1999 of battery and stealing Tupperware. In fact he was convicted of stealing a battery from a van as well as Tupperware that was inside the van. Link
