Wiser admits she made a big error, according to a report from Phil Rosenthal at the Chicago Tribune:

“I’m at fault,” Wiser said. “I do understand what a big deal this was. I am ashamed, and it’s just a matter of making bad decisions when you’re exhausted.”

Wiser, 40, said she brought her two young children to the show Friday at Rosemont’s Allstate Arena with the approval of an editor who told her “cute kids’ reaction would be more than welcome” in the story. Her son fell off a chair during the show. Her daughter vomited into a cotton-candy bag.

They left three songs later, only 13 numbers into the concert, but her report included commentary on the encore based on information from previous “Glee Live!” shows.

A review in the June 5, 2011, Sunday Sun-Times of a Glee Live! performance included the mention of a song that was not performed and a description of another song that the critic did not witness.
The critic, Paige Wiser, is no longer employed by the Chicago Sun-Times.

The print news business is a tough one, and there are thousands of chances for a screw-up in every edition that goes out. Some of those screw-ups are a little worse than others however, as the Chicago Sun-Times has found following their coverage of the Cubs’ big trade for Tampa Bay pitcher Matt Garza Joaquin Benoit Matt Garza.

The photo seen here from their tasteful post-trade spread shows the newly acquired Garza gearing up for one of his signature fastballs. Only one problem: that isn’t Matt Garza.

No, it’s former teammate Joaquin Benoit, who it turns out is quite a different goatee-d, Latino RHP than Garza. Oops …

The error was noted by the St. Petersberg Times and you can see a big shot of the mistaken page on their post.

In our April 9 edition, the Sun-Times published a letter mildly critical of Mayor Daley that was signed “Sabina Lilly, Bridgeport.” In fact, Sabina Lilly did not write the letter — her signature had been forged. Our policy is to check the veracity of letters before publication, but we failed this time. We apologize.
