Because of an error in the editing process, a headline on a Sunday Gazette-Mail story was incorrect. The number of West Virginians eligible for WVRx free prescription drug coverage is estimated to be 270,000, as stated in the story, not 70,000, as stated in the headline. Link

Please don’t cancel the equipment order

Because of an editor’s error, a story about the State Police firearms crime lab in Monday’s Gazette incorrectly stated that police examiners said new equipment in the lab “wouldn’t do much to reduce the lab’s backlog or speed cases out the door.”
Actually, lab examiners see the new equipment as beneficial, but said the redesign should not affect the amount of cases the lab will be able to work.

A Jan. 3 Gazette article regarding a masseur accused of filming clients was incorrect in stating that Richard Filbin was accused of videotaping 114 clients. There were 114 counts; some of the victims were listed in more than one count. He pleaded guilty to 12 counts, one for each of the known victims who came forward. Additionally, his sentence was four years in jail, two of which are to be suspended for two years of probation. He must pay a fine of $5,000 and court costs of $1,926. Link

A story in Thursdayâ€™s edition of The Charleston Gazette said Nitro parks director Debbie Jordan spent $43,613 of her $55,000 salary in four months. The money was for salaries in the entire parks department, which is made up of five employees and about 12 lifeguards. Jordanâ€™s salary is about $18,000 a year. Link
