On Oct. 29, we reported on the death of Chuck Biscuits, the former D.O.A. and Danzig drummer, which turned out to be a hoax. The B.C.-born drummer’s brother confirmed a day later that Biscuits, whose real name is Charles Montgomery, is healthy and living in Seattle. Link

A story published Aug. 7 about a class-action lawsuit against Selwyn House originally said Quebec Judge Pierre Gagnon recommended raising a cap on a proposed compensation package to $20 million from $5 million. Gagnon did not make that recommendation in his judgment. The CBC regrets the inaccuracy. Link

A story published June 30 about a forest fire hitting two remote communities in northern Saskatchewan said the Stony Mountain federal penitentiary was evacuated. In fact, the penitentiary is in Manitoba, is not near the fire-affected areas and was not evacuated. Link

A story published June 26 about the Mexican consular officials in Vancouver claiming that Mexicans are singled out at B.C. borders said that the B.C. Federation of Labour represented B.C. prison guards and that the federation told CBC that 45 male prisoners were being held in isolation. In fact, the B.C. Federation of Labour does not represent prison guards, did not say the men were held in isolation and did not say how many men were detained. Link

A story published on June 6 about a Vancouver Island junior hockey star originally said Harrison Zolnierczyk pleaded guilty to two counts of child pornography. In fact, he pleaded guilty to two counts of voyeurism. Link

A story published Jan. 2 about private animal shelters in Ottawa said the College of Veterinarians of Ontario restricts vets from offering discounts to people who are trying to care for marginalized animals. In fact, the organization does not impose such restrictions.

A story published Jan. 2 about Canadian university groups that raised criticisms of blood donor screening practices said some groups recently banned blood drives. In fact, the bans were in previous years. Link to both
