A photograph accompanying an article in the Herald on Sept. 25 mistakenly depicted the name of a cemetery where a body was allegedly buried in a wrong grave. The correct cemetery is Chevra Kadusha. The Herald regrets the error.

The Boston Herald apologized Saturday for identifying the wrong man in an article about a hit-and-run death in Quincy.The man killed was Paul F. Moore, 63, of Milton.”The Herald deeply regrets the error and pain caused to the Moore family,” the newspaper wrote in its correction.The Herald said it incorrectly reported that Paul E. â€œPolecatâ€ Moore, 60, a former associate of James J. â€œWhiteyâ€ Bulger, was the man killed in the hit-and-run.According to Paul E. â€œPolecatâ€ Mooreâ€™s brother, who asked that his name be withheld, Paul â€œPolecatâ€ Moore is living in Dorchester, the Herald reported.TheBostonChannel.com reprinted the original Boston Herald article and also regrets the error. Sweeping away any confusion

A sub-headline on page one of last Tuesday’s Herald stated that Attorney General Martha Coakley broomed a conflict-of-interest investigation involving Suffolk University before accepting an honorary law degree from the school. The accompanying story reported that Coakley’s office had obtained concessions from Suffolk while concluding there were no illegalities committed in the case. The Herald regrets any confusion caused by the use of the term "broom."

That’s some salty matzo

The recipe for Dora Fegelman’s Matzo Meal Popovers in Wednesday’s Passover food story incorrectly called for 3/4 cup of salt. The measurement should be 3/4 teaspoon.

Senseless flagpole violence

Due to an editing error, an article and caption in yesterday’s Herald misstated the event captured in a 1976 photo. An American flag was aimed to spear the man in the photo, but he was not stabbed by the flagpole. The Herald regrets the error.

Boston Herald publishes front page apology

On Feb. 2, 2008, the Boston Herald reported that a member of the New England Patriotsâ€™ video staff taped the St. Louis Ramsâ€™ walkthrough on the day before Super Bowl XXXVI. While the Boston Herald based its Feb. 2, 2008, report on sources that it believed to be credible, we now know that this report was false, and that no tape of the walkthrough ever existed.

Prior to the publication of its Feb. 2, 2008, article, the Boston Herald neither possessed nor viewed a tape of the Ramsâ€™ walkthrough before Super Bowl XXXVI, nor did we speak to anyone who had. We should not have published the allegation in the absence of firmer verification.

The Boston Herald regrets the damage done to the team by publication of the allegation, and sincerely apologizes to its readers and to the New England Patriotsâ€™ owners, players, employees and fans for our error. Link

The Boston Globe has a story mentioning the apology, and the Associated Press got comment from Patriots owner Robert Kraft:

New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft is pleased the Boston Herald apologized for a story that said his team videotaped a St. Louis Rams walkthrough before the 2002 Super Bowl.

Kraft said Wednesday in an interview with The Associated Press he doesn’t know why former New England video assistant Matt Walsh didn’t refute the story soon after it came out in early February, when the Patriots were preparing for this year’s Super Bowl.
