A headline in the Rio Rancho Journal on Wednesday incorrectly said, “Ex-Cop Held in Impersonating Police Officer.” The former police officer was issued a criminal summons, but he was not jailed.

A story in Thursday’s Rio Rancho Journal incorrectly stated that Manuel Fidel Chavez faces up to 21 years in prison. It should have said Chavez could be held at a detention center until he turns 21, depending on the sentence he is given at a later date.
Chavez, 18, was tried as a minor. A Sandoval County jury on Wednesday found him guilty of second-degree criminal sexual penetration. He was 17 at the time of the incident in April 2007.

Feb. 13–A list that accompanied a Journal story Tuesday about escapees from state juvenile reintegration centers incorrectly stated that Oden Gutierrez of Farmington had pleaded guilty to an open count of murder. He has pleaded not guilty.

Nov. 7–A headline on an A1 story in Tuesday’s Journal about Gov. Bill Richardson’s proposal for universal health care in New Mexico said, “Health Plan Excludes Immigrants.” It should have said the plan would exclude illegal immigrants.
