The original version of this column stated the Daily Beast used iThenticate to check Gerald Posner’s articles for plagiarism. Robert Creutz says he is unaware of the specific nature of the material the Beast was checking with the service. The lead has be changed to reflect this. A quote from him also suggested he had contacted the Beast to recommend they move to the subscription option, but Creutz says he was speaking in general and did not make a recommendation. The quote has been corrected. Finally, Associated Content was cited as an iThenticate customer. Creutz says his references to Associated Content were in the context of noting that the company is similar to Demand Media. He did not mean to imply that they were a customer. We regret the errors.

• Our December 13 post, "Crunks ’06: The Year in Media Errors and Corrections," left out "to" in this sentence about our Correction of the Year, "In fact, we give this award in an effort [to] give media everywhere…" Also, our runner up for that same award was listed as being from the "Delaware News Journal." More specifically, it is from the Wilmington, Delaware News Journal. Both have been corrected. We regret the errors.

• Our October 23 post originally entitled, "Kind of the point of ‘exiled’," required a headline change due to inaccuracy. The correction it related was about the (low) number of visits the Dalai Lama had made to Nepal. We confused Nepal with Tibet, the country the Dalai Lama is exiled from. The headline has been changed to read, "Not a regular." We regret the error.
• Our October 26 post, "‘Like two shits passing in the night’," presented that text from a Dallas Observer article as being the result of a typo. The paper later explained the writer had purposely altered the common phrase "like two ships passing in the night" in order to make a joke. Read the post for more background. We regret the error.
• Our October 30 post originally entitled, "’Didn’t bother’ to ask him," also had an incorrect headline. The person in question is female, not male. The headline has been corrected to read, "’Didn’t bother’ to ask her." We regret the error.

• Our July 3 post, "That’s Edgar Allan Poe," misspelled the word "newspapers" as "newspepers." It has been corrected. We regret the error.
• Our July 20th post, "Her name eludes them still," originally ran with the headline "Her name alludes them still." It has been corrected. We regret the error.

• Our June 20 post, "A tale of two public editors" had two errors. In referring to former New York Times public editor Daniel Okrent, we mistakenly wrote, "He wasn’t prefect." We of course meant, "He wasn’t perfect." We also referred to current public editor Byron Calame’s "bi-monthly column," which is incorrect. He writes a column every two weeks. Both errors have been corrected. We regret the errors.
• Our June 20 post, "Spelling bee errors continue," contained a misspelling in the headline. We wrote "Selling" instead of "Spelling," thus adding ourselves to the list of publications who have made errors while writing about spelling bees. It has been corrected. We regret the error.

The Crunks:

• Our April 24 post, "The Medium Is the Massage," incorrectly stated that the title of Marshall McLuhan’s well-known book was "The Medium Is the Message." While this was his famous declaration and the intended title of the book, it was not the final title. "The Medium Is the Massage" is the correct title. (Though it was the result of a typo; for background, read the post.) As a result, we incorrectly implied that New York Times Magazine writer Jaime Wolf had made a typo in an article about American Apparel owner Dov Charney. Adding insult to injury, we also misspelled Wolf’s first name as "Jamie." The errors have been corrected and noted within the post. We apologize to Wolf for the wrongful typo charge.

• In our April 19 post, "Questioning the Times questionnaire," we incorrectly used the word "pubic" instead of "public" in this sentence: "The problem here is that the questionnaire is public, and the rules governing its application aren’t." It has been corrected. We regret the error.

• The headline on our March 24 post, "All Supreme Court Justices look alike," incorrectly used "looks" instead of "look." It has been corrected. We regret the error.
• In our March 24 post, "Sources with tall tales to tell, and why the press can’t resist them," the sentence, "Every story is supposed to be humanized, to speak to…" initially left out the word "be." It has been corrected. We regret the error.
• Our sidebar, "Where Is Your Online Corrections Page," (left hand side of the site) initially spelled "Fox News" as "FOX News." It has been corrected. We regret the error.
• Our March 29 post, "Those elusive broadcast corrections," contained a few errors. The sentence, "Or one of the media watchdogs finds some fresh meat" incorrectly used "find" instead of "finds." The sentence, "But do broadcast media makes less errors than print?" initially used "does" instead of "do." And the sentence, "So while both print and broadcast make errors, news networks will usually just fix their reports for the next time…" initially used "report" instead of "reports." They have been corrected. We regret the errors.

• In our March 17 post, "Will the real Matthew Slade please stand up?," we misspelled "Matthew" in the headline. It has been corrected. We regret the error.
• In our March 20 post, "He was, however, a hockey player," we mistakenly wrote "her" instead of "he" in the headline. It has been corrected. We regret the error.
• In our March 21 post, "All receivers sound alike," we mistakenly put a possessive apostrophe on the word "receivers" in the headline. It has been corrected. We regret the error.

• Last week’s edition of "We Crunked: Regret corrections" reported that we misspelled the word "judgment" in the headline of our February 23 post, "Unfair judgment." In fact, both "judgement" and "judgment" are acceptable. We’ll stick with "judgment" from now on.
• Our February 24 post, "LA Times and song titles — a bad combination," stated that the Times had previously misspelled two OutKast song titles in this correction. In reality, the paper misspelled three. It has been corrected. We regret the error.
• Our February 28 post, "One paper’s corrections policy; readers as copy editors," mistakenly inserted the word "the" in front of Karen Vittek’s name in this sentence: "This is an interesting column written by Karen Vittek, managing editor of the News Guard in Lincoln City, Oregon." • Our February 10 post, "Asian dress? Must be a kimono, says Elle magazine," misspelled Korean as "Koren" in this sentence: "Elle magazine was forced to run a correction in its December issue

• Our December 13 post, "Crunks ’05: The Year in Media Errors and Corrections," misspelled the word "because" in this sentence: "Oh my. Not retracting because you don’t know what the facts are." It has been corrected. We regret the error.

• Our December 15 post, "The story behind "Jew Jersey," 2005′s Correction of the Year," misspelled the word error in this sentence: "Then we received an email from Peter Marcus, a reporter at the News, who wrote, ‘…on behalf of the gentleman who was [responsible for the error]…’ " It has been corrected. We regret the error, but appreciate the irony.
• Our December 13 post, "Crunks ’05: The Year in Media Errors and Corrections," contained several mistakes. The headline initially included a backwards apostrophe on "’05." The word "caused" was printed as "cased" in this sentence: "Media errors caused incredible consequences for average citizens
  and the media in 2005." The "New York Post" was called the "New Your Post" in this sentence: "At one point, the New York Post ran a front-page headline…" We used "its" when it should have been "it has" in this sentence: "Looks like it has held up well." Also, the word "that" was written twice in this sentence: "In the May 16 issue, Newsweek editor Mark Whitaker penned an Editor’s Note that said the magazine…" Finally, we instructed readers to click on the image of a Calgary Herald front page in order to get a larger look. In reality, the image remained the same size. So we deleted the suggestion. All of these errors have been corrected. We regret them and will retain the services of a copy editor for next year’s round-up.
• Our December 13 post, "2005 Plagiarism Round-Up," referred to "ice flows" instead of "ice floes" in this sentence: "The writer, Barbara Stewart, a former New York Times reporter now based
  in Halifax, Nova Scotia, wrote a story about the Canadian seal hunt as
  if she had been there on the ice floes the day it began." It has been corrected. We regret the error.

• In our November 30 post, "Share a name, get implicated in a federal investigation," we misspelled "implicated" as "implicted." It has been corrected. We regret the error.
