Another article, “China fears the power of its society”, incorrectly calculated 2 million yuan as $301. The right amount is $301,000.

Press release for “loony bin rally” gets PR Newswire employee fired

The Philadelphia Daily News’ Dan Gross has the story of a PR Newswire employee who was fired after “she used the title ‘loony bin rally’ for a regional press release about a mental illness march…” Gawker graciously grabbed a shot of the corrected release, which is below. From Gross:

Earlier this morning, a press release was put on i-Newswire, a free online press release distribution service, claiming that Will Ferrell died in a paragliding accident yesterday. Here is the first sentence of the release:
“Los Angeles — Actor Will Ferrell accidentally died in a freak para-gliding accident yesterday in Torey Pines, Southern California.”
