Apology

IN AN article on June 28, The Times referred to Zimbabwean businessman John Bredenkamp’s “frozen seafood company, Breco” as one of the companies blacklisted by the US Department of Treasury for his alleged links to President Robert Mugabe. It has been brought to The Times’ attention that one of Bredenkamp’s companies, trading only in South [...]

Invented concerns

In an article about Sky TV buying rights to programmes by the US cable television broadcaster HBO we said that the actor David Morrissey had approached Sky and the BBC with an idea for a dramatisation based on novels featuring Detective Inspector Tom Thorne – but ended up accepting Sky’s offer “for fear that the [...]

Hand, not penis

A news brief on Monday’s page 1, titled “Rugger overexposed in newspaper,” appears to have been wrong. We now [...]

An article on July 21 about David Cameron, Britain’s new prime minister, and his austerity measures to slash the national budget, misstated the number of unemployed people in the country. It is 2.5 million, not 8 million. The article also misstated the government portion of the total work force in Britain. It is 21.1 percent, [...]

Apology

IN our free supplement “Britain’s worst serial killers” on 17 April 2010 and online we stated that the publisher of the James Maybrick Diary had admitted forging the diary. We now accept that this is untrue and we are happy to make clear that the publisher has never admitted to forging it. We apologise to [...]

Apology

A report last Saturday, quoting Fine Gael TD Lucinda Creighton concerning party and personal fundraisers, referred to Michael O Flynn of the O Flynn Group in differentiating between developers who were or were not in Nama. The Irish Timesis satisfied that the article may have wrongly implied that Mr O Flynn was other than upstanding [...]
