The wrong “Pope Nazi”

ON MONDAY, The Age reported that Richard Dawkins referred to Pope Benedict XVI as “Pope Nazi”. The reference was to Pope Pius XII. The mistake was made by the reporter.

Thanks, Kevin!

In the heat of the moment this was an understandable error and, to the reporter's credit, as soon as he was shown video footage of the episode he agreed he had misinterpreted it and supported the correction. Congratulations to The Age and the reporter involved. Three other leading Australia papers, shown the same evidence, have refused to admit error and for reasons of their own have persisted in misquoting Dawkins.
