NBC confuses Terry Fox and Michael J. Fox

Meredith Vieira was asked who she thought would light the Olympic flame at the opening ceremonies in Vancouver, and she gave a very strange answer. Vieira confused Canadian actor Michael J. Fox with Canadian cancer activist and athlete Terry Fox, who died in 1981. They even managed to use photos of both men:

    American degenerecy at it's finest. Seriously, these people are supposed to have at least some sort of education, how the hell did they get on TV in the first place? How did Michael even get brought into this whole thing? Doesn't he have Parkinson's? How the hell does that have anything to do with Cancer? Why didn't anyone tell this woman before she even opened her mouth that her research was flawed and inaccurate?

    Oi, talk about a research flop. It's quite obvious there was no Canadian working on that story, because I don't think there's a Canadian alive who doesn't know who Terry Fox is.

    They couldnt care less if they offend a non American…thats why it wasnt important to know any facts….if its not an American then its not important…they are the world…who cares?

    Personally not really sure what the big deal is. Honestly, no one in the US has a clue who Terry Fox is (for right or for wrong, just saying).

    Just because here in Canada he's a national hero doesn't mean he is in the US. Trust me, there are many “heros” that our neighbours to the south have that we've never heard of.

    Were talking about American reporters here not the average every day joe…we in Canada expect the media in the Great USA to have some sort of clue who there talking about.Were not asking that they or you “care” just have some tiny shred of respect.
    The average American doesnt know where Canada is and we like it that way :)
