Bad for business

guardianA review of a programme broadcast on Channel 4 in September about the Changegate car park in Haworth, Yorkshire, said, “If you outstay your ticket by a minute, or your wheel is in the next bay by an inch, bang, on goes a clamp.” As the review stated, the car park complies with regulations, and its owner, ER Evans, has asked us to make clear that he has never clamped a vehicle for being a minute late or an inch out of a designated parking bay (The Yorkshire Clamper, 5 September, page 38). I don’t understand why an apology was made over this comment.  There is photographic and material evidence that Ted Evans Car Park is a trap.  The spaces are deliberately poorly marked; some of the spaces are not big enough for vehicles – even a Smart Car! The warning signs are hidden, there is no warning at the entrance about clamping and last but not least, the ticket machine has been fixed!  Under no circumstances should anyone apologise to this villain again.  Please see You Tube and put in the terms “Ted Evans” and “Car Park”.
