Faulty research

dominionpost3Children as young as 14 who took part in a Colmar Brunton research project were not shown footage of rape, sadism or "graphic" violence, as reported on December 4. Forty-four teenagers aged 14 to 17 participated. Consent was gained from their parents, who had already viewed the clips, taken from eight films or television programmes. Scenes from The Sopranos and Fight Club were shown only to the 73 adults who participated. The teenagers were able to withdraw from the project, commissioned by the Office of Film and Literature Classification and the Broadcasting Standards Authority, at any time. The delay publishing this correction is regretted.
