“Pubic schools” and a hometown misspelling

Thanks to my earlier post about the Valley News misspelling its own name on the front page, I’ve been provided with two more excellent typos.

The first, found by Andrew Mogendorff and posted on his blog back in March 2007, features a paper misspelling the name of its hometown (Aberdeen):

The second is more recent. Earlier this month, the Burlington Free Press published a sidebar detailing “Pubic schools by the numbers.” The public/public pubic typo is a somewhat common one. Just ask the Christian Science Monitor. Or me. The Free Press error was spotted by Mistress Maeve at Seven Days, the Vermont weekly:

“The public/public typo is a somewhat common one.”

Indeed: you even made it again, in this very article! ;)
