Carrot cake without the carrots

On page E7 of Wednesday’s Food & Life section, a recipe for Hummingbird Carrot Cake reprinted from the cookbook “A Passion for Baking” left out an ingredient. There should be 3/4 cup grated carrots, to be stirred in along with the pecans and banana.

Thanks, Daniel!

The Hummingbird Carrot Cake recipe in Marcy Goldman's “A Passion for Baking” doesn't list carrots! I was making the cake for my daughter's birthday, came to the end of the recipe, and realized I had left out the carrots! I am famous for my “Let's guess what Mom left out this time” creations. I re-read the recipe, had my husband read the recipe–no carrots! I was about to dump the bowl of batter, and decided to look on line. Your comment saved Emily's birthday cake. Thank you! It's in the oven now. I baked it in a 13 x 9 inch pan, which Marcy says is fine. She doesn't mention if I should cook it longer than if I used 9-inch round cake pans. I want to break my record for bad birthday cakes.
