Regret the Error

During
the editing of an obituary for Larry Paul Manley, a former state
housing official, important information about Manley’s life and
accomplishments that would have provided balance was cut from the
article. The obituary, published on Aug. 17, focused on problems that
arose when Manley was in office but omitted accounts from friends who
described Manley as a highly intelligent and genuine man who deserved
to be evaluated on his full record. As published, the article did not
meet the Statesman’s journalistic standards. We apologize for that. Link
