In an
article following the alleged airline plot last year (August 29th
2006), we reported that there was a Charity Commission inquiry into a
charity called Crescent Relief, of which we said Mr. Abdul Rauf was a
founder. The article may have been understood to suggest, wrongly, that
Mr. Rauf was suspected of using the charity as a front to fund
terrorist activities. Mr Rauf is not and has not been under any such
suspicion. We apologise for the distress and embarrassment caused by
the article.
