Rest is fine

THE story: ”Nierop in fear of payback” (The Manly Daily, Saturday, April 28) contained some factual errors.
It
incorrectly stated that Dirk Nierop of Allambie admitted repeatedly
punching Narrabeen Sharks A-Grade player Shane Bullock breaking his
nose and fracturing an eye socket during his trial in February.
Mr Nierop did admit punching Mr Bullock four times but said it was in self-defence.
Nierop’s
barrister, Peter Lavac, said yesterday Mr Bullock sustained his
injuries after colliding with a stone vase during the incident at the
Surf Rock Hotel, Collaroy, which involved other night security staff.
The
story also said former Home and Away star Les Hill previously gave
evidence that he and other bouncers had to restrain Mr Nierop during
the incident. Mr Hill actually said he tried to restrain Mr Bullock.
It also incorrectly described Mr Lavac as a QC. The Manly Daily apologises for these errors.
