In some of
Friday’s editions, a Page One story about racial remarks made in 1980
by gubernatorial candidate Kinky Friedman omitted a portion of the
quote at the center of the controversy surrounding them. In the
recording of Friedman’s comedy routine, he said, "Then I come down to
Houston, I went to a bowling alley. I couldn’t go bowling, there were
no bowling balls. The people here throw ‘em all in the sea, thought
they were n—– eggs, thought they were n—– eggs."
