Baltimore Sun runs photo with word “cunt” clearly visible
On Tuesday, the Baltimore Sun ran a photo on page three that showed a woman, Sgt. Jennifer Scala, a witness in a military prosecution of alleged guard misconduct at Abu Ghraib, holding a book. The clearly visible title of that book? "Cunt." The Baltimore City Paper’s blog has the photo and some good background here.
The Sun published a correction yesterday:
A photograph published yesterday with an
article about the court-martial of a guard at Abu Ghraib prison showed
a book cover that contained an obscenity. The obscenity went unnoticed
during editing and should not have been published. Publication of the
photo violates The Sun’s guidelines.
The Sun apologizes for the oversight.
