From bogus news release to wire story
In an Aug. 25 story about a global business conference in Sydney, The Associated Press erroneously reported that former U.S. President George Bush would attend. The report was based on a bogus statement distributed to news agencies. The organizers said Bush was not scheduled to attend the Aug. 30-Sept. 1 conference.
