In a story about the Federalist Society on Page B1 on Aug. 1, quotes
from Kimberly Crockett and Patrick Schiltz were meant to scoff at the
controversy over possible links between Supreme Court nominee John
Roberts and the Federalist Society, not to question Roberts’ claim that
he couldn’t recall whether he had paid dues to the group.
