Gentlemen “pee” in the pool, they don’t “piss”
Truly, manners are a matter of perception:
An error in reading a
shorthand note caused us to quote Phil Sawford, who is defending
Kettering for Labour, as accusing his ex-colleague Brian Sedgemore as
"pissing in the pool" after he had defected to the Liberal Democrats
(Sedgemore bolsters Lib Dems’ Iraq attack, page 4, yesterday). What Mr
Sawford told our reporter was that Mr Sedgemore had "peed" in the pool.
He does not use the word piss nor does he like it. Apologies.
